Discover Rice King Ii

Walking into Rice King Ii feels like stepping into a familiar neighborhood spot where the staff already knows what half the customers are going to order before they even reach the counter. Located at 1887 Louisville Rd, Alcoa, TN 37701, United States, this diner-style Asian restaurant has quietly built a loyal following among locals who care more about flavor and consistency than flashy décor. I first stopped by on a weekday lunch break, expecting a quick bite, and ended up staying longer than planned just watching the steady stream of regulars roll in.

The menu is broad without being overwhelming, which is often a good sign. You’ll find classic Chinese-American staples like fried rice, lo mein, General Tso’s chicken, and egg rolls, along with lighter options such as steamed vegetables and simple rice bowls. What stood out to me was how fresh everything tasted, especially the rice. According to data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, rice freshness and proper storage play a huge role in texture and flavor, and this place clearly gets that part right. Each grain is fluffy, never mushy, and consistently cooked, even during busy hours.

One thing I appreciated from personal experience was how efficiently the kitchen runs. Orders come out fast, but nothing feels rushed. On one visit, I watched a staff member remake a dish because a customer asked for less oil, no questions asked. That kind of flexibility reflects real-world service training practices often recommended by the National Restaurant Association, which emphasizes responsiveness as a key driver of positive reviews. Speaking of reviews, many locals online mention the same things I noticed: generous portions, reliable flavors, and friendly service that doesn’t feel scripted.

The fried rice deserves special attention. It’s not overloaded with soy sauce, which allows the individual ingredients to shine. The balance of protein, vegetables, and seasoning feels intentional rather than accidental. From a practical standpoint, this suggests a standardized cooking process, something professional kitchens use to maintain quality across different shifts. That consistency matters, especially for diners who visit multiple times a month and expect the same experience every time.

I once chatted briefly with another customer who mentioned they stop by after work at least twice a week because it’s always hot and always ready. That kind of word-of-mouth loyalty doesn’t happen by chance. It usually comes from years of delivering dependable meals without cutting corners. While the dining area is simple, it’s clean and functional, aligning with health department guidelines that focus more on sanitation and food safety than aesthetics. Tennessee health inspection standards are publicly available, and restaurants in this area are held to clear, verifiable criteria.

There are some limitations worth noting. This isn’t the place for experimental fusion dishes or elaborate plating. If you’re looking for trendy cocktails or an upscale atmosphere, you might want to look elsewhere. But if your priority is good food at fair prices, this spot delivers exactly that. The location is easy to access, parking is straightforward, and the diner layout makes it comfortable for solo meals or quick family stops.

Over time, Rice King Ii has carved out a reputation built on routine excellence rather than hype. It’s the kind of place where the menu doesn’t change much because it doesn’t need to. The food does what it’s supposed to do: satisfy hunger, taste good, and make you consider coming back again tomorrow. For a casual diner in Alcoa, that reliability is the real standout quality.

  • So a women walk in a few minutes ago complaining how 1 singular dish didn't taste good, 1 out of 5 (I think) dishes that were not to her taste, if you don't like it don't order next time. If you already at it, no refunds. Sorry if anybody else has this issue but we're stressed enough with the heat and around 20 customers a day. Please don't add more stress by complaining, please and thank you -Sincerely, The manager's son.

  • It's your typical to-go Chinese restaurant. Perfect if you just want a quick meal. The General Tso isn't very spicy. It's more sweet and sour without the fruitiness. The Pot stickers aka dumplings aka Gyoza. Are plump and have plenty of stuffing. Pros: Stays open till 10, fast, decent prices Cons: no room to eat in, tso chicken isn't spicy at all.

  • Best Chinese in town ! I stop here once a week to get food and has never been a disappointment. Always hot and huge portions and very reasonably priced . I get their spicy curry rice noodles , it’s a must . I’ve also tried other dishes and all have been delicious, but the Singapore noodles are out of this world!!! Next time you are craving Chinese try this place out . It’s also a small family owned business so you’ll be supporting great people with even better food .

  • Very pleased with the quantity of food we received, the quality and flavor, and the price. Our order was ready in less than 15 minutes and was piping hot when we picked it up. We had the fried dumplings (slightly over cooked IMHO), Hunan Chicken, Curry Chicken and Pork Fried Rice and all of them were tasty. As you would expect a good amount of vegetables but also a good amount of chicken too in our main dishes. The pork fried rice was nicely prepared with a little bit of pork, egg and a hint of veggies and mostly rice so no complaints there. We only had pictures of the lunch menu… adding pictures from the back of the menu which has lots more options. We will try several of the other options next time!

  • Okay so first I want to start off and say, the place doesn’t look the best from the outside.. and the inside is very warm. Only two tables with 4 chairs each, and then two spare chairs. My meal was only $10.92 including a drink. It’s not badly priced, and the food is actually pretty good. Better than I had expected. I didn’t expect much out of the place, but they honestly done a really good job.
